Job Description:
Aptiva Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a
travel nursing job in Grand Coulee, Washington.Job Description &
Requirements
*Certifications: Required: BLS, ACLS. Preferred: PALS, NRP*
- # of Beds: 25. Average census is 12-15.
- Nurse: Patient Ratios: Acute: 1:4-5. Non-skilled swing/skilled
swing: 1:6-8.
- Required certifications: Required: BLS, ACLS. Preferred: PALS,
NRP.
- Common diagnoses: CHF, COPD, General Medical floor patients, SDS
patients, rehab patients, wound care,
skilled nursing patients. Will mix some of their own
medications.
- Experience: Must have experience with telemetry and drips. Must
be willing to be flexible in assignments and
work all beds/populations with variation in census, we are a small
hospital that has a variety of patients and
nurses must be willing to juggle between medically complex to basic
care. ER and Post Partum experience
preferred.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips: Yes
- Common titratable: Insulin, Diltiazem, Nitro, Heparin.
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift: Charge Nurse on each
shift, Nurse Manager is available for Charge Nurse.
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit: Yes,
1:8-10.
- RT Equipment: No RT, RN's responsible for respiratory treatments
and oxygen management, CRNA is on call for
complex respiratory needs or IV line difficulty (intubation, PICC
line placement etc). Will see nasal cannula, Airvo
high flow, and BiPAP for emergency, no home regimen CPAP or
BiPAP.
- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit: No monitor techs. We
do some telemetry, RNs do basic strip sign off
during shift.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hour shifts, 6a-6:30p, 6p-6:30a. We do
set schedules typically with shifts blocked
together. Scheduler will complete schedule 4 weeks at a time.
- Weekend Requirement: Typically every other.
- Holiday Requirement: Will fill in if there is a need.
- Floating Requirements: May be assigned to the Code Team, may
float to ER if experienced, or may have to help
with post partum caring for well mom and baby.
- Scrub Color: Any color as long as clean and professional.
- Department specific orientation: 1-2 day orientation that
includes unit orientation competencies and clinical
informatic training as well as general facility orientation.About
